Last night, Merrimack stunned No. 7 Vermont 5-2 at home. The Warriors scored four goals in the final two periods. Merrimack went 2-for-6 on the power play and outshot the Catamounts 34-27. Chris Barton scored his team-high fifth goal of the season in the second period for Merrimack.
UNH downed Northeastern 4-2 in front of a sellout crowd in Durham. NU goalkeeper Chris Rawlings did not look particularly comfortable in net, but managed to make 30 saves for the Huskies. Dalton Speelman had two goals for the Wildcats.
UMass downed Maine 5-3 at the Mullins Center to remain undefeated on the young season. James Marcou had a game-high four points for the Minutemen.
Providence rolled past Bowling Green 8-2, and the Friars are an impressive 3-1-0 to start the season. The Friars scored five goals in the second period, and outshot Bowling Green 45-18. Matt Gergland notched his first career hat trick with four points.
No. 15 Boston College upset No. 10 Notre Dame 3-2 in South Bend before a sellout crowd Friday night. Joe Whitney notched the game-winner with 8:31 left in the game, while the Eagles were a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill. John Muse stopped 20 shots for BC.
No. 12 UMass Lowell upended Colgate 5-3, going 2-for-5 on the power play and scoring three goals int he final period. Scott Campbell notched three points in the win.
Tonight, Northeastern travels to UMass-Lowell, and are currently trailing 1-0 in the second. Maine visits UNH, and Providence will look to sweep the weekend series at Bowling Green. Tomorrow, Merrimack hosts Connecticut.
