Terriers Living On Maine Street

The Boston University Terriers ended a brief two game road trip against the University of Maine with a 4-2 victory.
BU's offense clicked again, lead by senior midfielder Emily Pallotta (’10), who had two goals. Sophomore midfielder Jessica Luscinski (’12) scored her third goal of the year off a cross from freshman forward Andrienne Anderson (’13). Luscinski also provided her fourth assist of the year. Even the defense got in on the action when senior back Casey Brown (’10) netted her first goal of the year.
The offense as a whole looked fluid with the Terriers posting 15 shots, eight of which were on goal. Six different players got offensive points including senior forward Taleen Dimirdjian (’10), who had her first assist of the year.
Dimirdjian is emerging as an intricate part of the Terriers offense. She scored her first two collegiate goals against Binghamton, and just seems to be in right place at the right time this season for the Terriers.
The spotlight however, was on Pallotta's two goals. She broke the game open in the second half, after a scoreless first half. In the last three games, the Terriers have scored eight goals, three of which have come from Pallotta.
BU coach Nancy Feldman says that the senior puts in hard work and is excited to see the benefits from it.
“She’s doing a great job on the offensive end and the defensive end, winning air balls at midfield, dominate at winning fifty-fifties, and getting the territorial advantage has been a huge factor,” Feldman said. “She goes end line to end line, sideline to sideline for ninety minutes, there are not that many players who covers ground the way she does.”
The defense made a bid for its third consecutive shot-out, but was foiled by Maine freshman midfielder Maddie Hill ('13) in the 52nd minute. Junior forward Hannah Breton ('11) would follow her up 12 minutes later with a shot from the 18-yard line to give Maine its second and final goal of the game.
With the defeat of Maine, BU is now 3-0 against conference opponents, out scoring them 8-2. Coach Feldman says that the familiar opponents and the “gelling” of the offense have given the Terriers new life.
“We’ve gotten better as the season goes on and we’ve made some real improvements in last couple of weeks in particular,” Feldman said. “They’re at a better level of comfort with each other. They’re more aware of how all the pieces fit together.”
The Terriers next matchup will be against Vermont at Nickerson Field, Thursday at 2 o’clock.
