Senior forward Farrell McClernon (’10) netted her third goal of the year in the 61st minute as the Boston University Terriers (6-4-2, 2-0-0) defeated the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (1-9-1, 0-2-0), 1-0 on a chilly Thursday afternoon at Lewis Fields.

Boston University has not lost an America East game since a loss to Hartford on October 18, 2007 (15-0-1). The Terriers outshot the host Wildcats 20-9 and senior goalie Janie Reilly (’10) made five saves to pick up her third shutout of the season.

“This is important that we came out and made it clear that they [UNH] were not turning their season around against us,” said McClernon (’10) after the game.

Freshman Megan McGoldrick (’13) set up the game-winner with a beautiful through ball into the box for McClernon. New Hampshire goalie Ally Yost came out to play the ball but it scooted away from her and McClernon was there to put into the empty net. McGoldrick (’13) now has three game-winning assists and a game-winning goal [Harvard].

“I was very pleased with the 90 minutes we put together,” said head coach Nancy Feldman after the victory. “We got better as the game went on and I thought we came to play.”

This is the first road victory for the Terriers after going 0-4-2 on a six-game road trip during September. BU has now won four straight and have outscored their opponents 7-1 in that span.

BU continues their America East schedule on Sunday when they travel to Orono to take on the University of Maine. Game time is 1 p.m.
