Know Your Enemy: The River Hawks

• Senior Nick Schaus (2g, 3a), sophomore David Vallorani (2g, 3a), junior Scott Campbell (3g, 2a) and senior Kory Falite (2g, 3a) are the early team leaders with five points each.  Junior Maury Edwards, a 2009 First Team Hockey East All-Star, is not far behind with four points on one goal and three assists.  The River Hawks bring a balanced offensive threat to the table; nine players have already recorded a goal.
• Senior goaltenders Carter Hutton and Nevin Hamilton continue to share time in the Lowell goal, as both appeared in 19 contests a year ago. Hutton has started four of the games thus far, posting a .905 save percentage and 2.48 goals-against average.
• Former BU associate head coach Blaise MacDonald is in his ninth year at the helm of the Lowell program and has a record of 129-139-34 at the school. BU Hall of Famer Shawn McEachern ‘91 is in his second season as an assistant coach for the River Hawks.

BU NOTES

• The Terriers ended a number of streaks the Rivers Hawks were on entering the game last night.  The River Hawks had scored the first goal in every game so far this season.  Alex Chiasson netted the game's first goal for bU.
• Lowell entered last night's game undefeated this season when leading after two periods.  The River Hawks took a 3-2 lead into the second intermission, but BU stormed back to the tie game 4-4 and win it, 5-4, in overtime.
• The River Hawks were also undefeated this season when outshooting their opponent.  The Terriers were outshot 36-28 but came away with the win.
• UMass Lowell had scored a power-play goal in every game this season entering last night's contest.  The Terriers shut down the River Hawks' five man-up opportunities.
• Colby Cohen's game-winner in overtime marked his second score of the season and his fourth game-winner of his career.  His previous game-winning goal came in overtime against Miami in last year's national championship game.
• BU won all three regular-season games against UML last year, but the Terriers entered the third period either tied or trailing all three times.
