Hockey East Media Day Part 2 - Interviews with Jack Parker, Nick Bonino and Kevin Shattenkirk After The Jump

WTBU was at Hockey East Media Day today and our Men's Hockey beat reporters spoke to several players and coaches from the Boston University Terriers.

Head Coach Jack Parker:

Some highlights:

On having a target on BU's back as defending national champs:

-"Well, I think we understand that and that all depends on what happens after the first game. If we lose to UMass, no one will be gunning for us that much."

"Preseason polls and former championships don't win games this year. We will find out what kind of team we have after those first five games when you look at that schedule."

Interesting note - he said he'd be happy with a 3-2 record after the first five games of the season, which is a bit surprising considering BU is, after all, defending champ.

-Said he wants to rotate two goalies in and out, similar to last season with Millan and Rollheiser

-Said he expects big things out of rookie Alex Chiasson and might even be able to play on the first two lines as well as Max Nicastro

Highlights:
-7 rookies who have an opportunity to jump in the line-up right away
-Talked up Nicastro
-Surprising news: Sophomore defenseman Ryan Ruikka tore his ACL running and is out for the year.
-"Physically, we're where we were last year...Psychologically, it'll be kind of tough to put last year behind us."

Highlights:
-Talked about being the lone captain on the team
-"[Colby Cohen]'s been good. I think we've all collectively kept him from getting out of hand with it." - on whether Cohen's ego is inflated as a result of his goal in the NCAA championship game.
-Talked up sophomore class, specifically Warsofsky and Trivino
